Abstract Seminario Académico

In my research, I focus on the organizational aspects of work and employment, investigating how social and organizational processes (for example, social networks, performance-reward systems, and managerial roles) influence key employment outcomes for individuals and organizations over time. I formulate and answer my research questions in a variety of empirical settings, making use of field and experimental research methodologies. Given the widely popular goals of promoting meritocracy and creating opportunity inside organizations and institutions, for a number of years now, I have focused on the role that merit and merit-based work practices play in shaping employees’ careers in today’s workplace. In my presentation, I will summarize some of my most recent projects on achieving meritocracy in the workplace. In so doing, I will stress the practical insights of my research into the areas of employment, organizations, and workplace inequality.
