FEN Universidad de Chile Renews Its AACSB International Accreditation for Six Years: A Milestone of Institutional Excellence

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEN) at Universidad de Chile has secured a six-year renewal of its AACSB international accreditation, one of the world’s leading benchmarks for the evaluation and quality assurance of business schools. The decision, made possible by the work of the school’s entire community, confirms its sustained compliance with international standards of academic excellence and continuous improvement.

The renewal recognizes FEN’s institutional development in areas such as strategic management, faculty development, program quality and student learning, research, and impact on society, in accordance with the international standards defined by AACSB.

The news was warmly received by the school’s new leadership. Dean Óscar Landerretche described the result as a fundamental step for the institution: “This achievement reflects the effort and dedication of the entire FEN community, in particular, the work led by former Dean José De Gregorio and his leadership team. This milestone builds directly on the foundations laid by previous deans.”

The outcome is the product of a sustained institutional process involving university authorities, faculty members, and professional teams across the school. In recent years, FEN has strengthened its management and quality assurance systems through the systematic review of processes, the generation of evidence, and the implementation of continuous improvement mechanisms aligned with international standards.

With this decision, FEN remains part of the select group of business schools accredited by AACSB, a distinction held by roughly 6% of institutions offering programs in the discipline worldwide.

What This Recognition Represents

For faculty, students, employers, and other stakeholders, this recognition strengthens confidence in the quality of the education FEN provides, backed by international standards and permanent processes of evaluation and improvement. It also consolidates the school’s participation in a global network of business schools that promotes collaboration, the exchange of best practices, and innovation in higher education.

In this context, the renewal of the accreditation is not a finish line, but the continuation of an institutional commitment to continuous improvement and to the ongoing strengthening of its capacity to fulfill its purpose: educating leaders in economics and business, and contributing to the sustainable and inclusive development of the country.
