Biography

Jaime Miranda is Associate Professor and Director of the School of Information Systems and Auditing (ESIA).

His lines of research focus on the development of solution approaches based on Business Analytics, Operations Research (OR) and Machine Learning, for decision support in complex companies and organizations.

In 2016, he was part of the finalist team for the Franz Edelman “Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, and Management Science” delivered by INFORMS. This award is considered the world’s most prestigious Award for Real Applications in Operations Research.

Professor Miranda has led two major OR scientific societies. Between 2013 and 2016 he was president of the Chilean Institute of Operations Research (ICHIO), and then, between 2017 and 2018, he was president of the Latin-Ibero-American Association of Operations Research (ALIO).

In professional terms, he has participated in technological innovation projects in various national and international companies, as well as in public organizations. Among these organizations are: Metro de Santiago, Transantiago, Walmart, Banco Central, Nestlé, Parque Arauco, Banco BCI, Banco Chile, C13, among others. In 2017, he was part of the team that developed sophisticated analytical approaches for Viacom, a leading multinational company in the television industry in the United States and Latin America.
