Biography

Javiera Selman is an assistant professor in the Economics Department of the School of Economics and Business at the Universidad de Chile. She holds a PhD in Public Administration from New York University and a Master’s degree in Economics from the ILADES Chile/Georgetown University program.

She has specialized in applied microeconomics. In particular, in the areas of urban and public economics, with a special interest in behavioral economics. He is currently studying participation and use of housing programs, housing market discrimination and residential mobility decisions. During 2024 he will teach the Introduction to Microeconomics course.

Prior to joining Decon he did a postdoc in the Department of Economics and Murphy Institute at Tulane University.

Research Areas

Applied microeconomics, urban and public economics and behavioral economics.
