Dean Robert F. Scherer Strengthens AACSB Reaccreditation Process During Visit to FEN UChile

Dean Robert F. Scherer, Chair of the Peer Review Team for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), visited the School of Economics and Business at the University of Chile (FEN UChile) from June 4 to 6, 2025, as part of the School’s international reaccreditation process.

During his visit, Dean Scherer was welcomed by FEN Dean José De Gregorio and Vice Dean Enrique Manzur. Together, they reviewed key milestones and recent progress that will be presented to the official evaluation team in 2026. He also held meetings with the School’s Executive Committee, faculty members from various departments, the Assurance of Learning Committees for undergraduate and graduate programs, and a group of early-career academics to discuss the impact of intellectual contributions. Additionally, he met with members of the Dean’s Business Advisory Council at the Genesis Building, including notable FEN alumni Marcela Bravo, Carla Fuenzalida, Luis José Garreaud, and Patricio Eskenazi. Dean Scherer also had the opportunity to meet with former Dean Joseph Ramos and other university leaders, engaging in dialogue on the Faculty’s strategic evolution and the challenges it faces in a rapidly changing global environment.

As part of his agenda, Dean Scherer toured FEN’s main facilities at the Andrés Bello Campus and the Genesis Building, where he observed the physical and virtual resources that support a high-quality teaching and research environment for undergraduate, graduate, and executive education students.

Dean Scherer is currently Dean of the School of Business at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, USA. With over 25 years of academic experience and more than 200 publications in management and business education, he is widely recognized as an international expert in quality assurance processes in business schools and higher education.

AACSB International is the world’s leading network of business schools and one of the most prestigious accreditation bodies in the field. Achieving AACSB accreditation places institutions among the global elite: as of February 2025, only 1,044 schools in over 67 countries hold this distinction—just 6% of all business schools worldwide. AACSB is also one of the three pillars of the coveted “Triple Crown” accreditation (along with EQUIS and AMBA), a status held by less than 1% of business schools globally.

For students and employers alike, the AACSB seal represents a guarantee of academic excellence: up-to-date curricula, highly qualified faculty, robust assurance of learning mechanisms, and a strong commitment to ethics and innovation. For universities, it also means joining a community of more than 1,900 members dedicated to academic excellence and international collaboration.
