FEN Welcomes International Students from 39 Global Universities for the 2026 First Semester

With representatives from prestigious institutions such as Korea University, ESSEC Business School, the University of Barcelona, and the University of Ottawa, the School of Economics and Business (FEN) at the University of Chile officially welcomed 77 new international students into its academic community for the first semester of 2026.

“It is a privilege for the School of Economics and Business to welcome this cohort of 77 international students joining our community,” said María Eugenia Jiménez, Head of the FEN International Office. She noted that hosting representatives from 39 elite institutions is a testament to the “prestige and global trust our School projects worldwide.” Jiménez further emphasized that the arrival of these students “transforms our classrooms into multicultural hubs” and reinforces FEN’s “commitment to responsible internationalization that fosters diversity and prepares all our students to lead with a global vision amidst future challenges.”

The welcoming reception featured Dean José De Gregorio, who highlighted the profound academic and personal impact of studying in an international environment. “We are delighted to have you here. This will be an extraordinary experience at one of Latin America’s premier business schools,” De Gregorio remarked. He also connected this academic milestone to the realities of the modern workforce: “Professional life is becoming increasingly global… everything you do will be interconnected with the rest of the world. In the world of business, borders are becoming significantly more porous.”

The day included a keynote lecture by Professor Gabriel Weintraub titled “Generative Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities for the Future of Work in Chile,” which explored the evolving opportunities and challenges AI presents within the Chilean labor market.

Following the lecture, the exchange students participated in a comprehensive orientation session focused on maximizing their academic experience at FEN and navigating life in Chile during their stay.
