Biography

D. in Economics from Harvard University, has worked as a senior researcher at the Inter-American Development Bank (Washington DC) and the Central Bank of Chile. He was Undersecretary of Finance in the second government of Michelle Bachelet. His research has been published in several international journals and used in economic policy debates in Latin America and Europe. In addition, he served as General Coordinator of Advisors and Capital Markets in the Ministry of Finance. In this ministry he participated in the Pension Reform, the employment subsidy and the Unemployment Insurance, three of the most successful proposals of the former State administration. He also participated in the elaboration of the economic plans to face the international financial crisis of 2008.
