In a significant achievement amid the global crises of biodiversity loss, pollution, and climate change, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEN) has been honored with Pre-Accreditation from the Green Office Program, becoming the only School at the University of Chile to receive this distinction for the 2023-2024 cycle.

The accreditation ceremony, held at FEN, brought together a diverse group of public and private institutions to spotlight efforts aimed at mitigating environmental impact in the workplace. The focus was on practices that promote energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and the reduction of resource consumption.
The Green Office Program, spearheaded by the Ministry of the Environment, seeks to foster sustainable and efficient practices within both governmental and private offices. Its goal is to reduce the environmental footprint of everyday operations through improved energy use, minimized carbon emissions, and enhanced environmental awareness.

Enrique Manzur, Vice Dean of FEN, praised the Green Office Program as a catalyst for positive change, stating, “Initiatives like this provide the motivation we need to make impactful contributions from our own spaces.” He also highlighted the environmental crisis as a “multidisciplinary and multisectoral challenge,” celebrating the establishment of FEN’s Green State Committee.

Environment Minister Maisa Rojas, who is also a professor at the University of Chile, echoed the sentiments of the renowned environmentalist Adriana Hoffmann: “One cannot care for what one does not love, and one does not love what one does not know.” Rojas emphasized the crucial role of collective commitment and participation in tackling these pressing environmental challenges.
