The main listing of Latin American business schools, produced annually by the magazine AméricaEconomía, ranked the the Universidad de Chile in 5^th place in Latin America, one place higher than its 2016 ranking and up five places over the past 6 years.  The results show that the University continues to exercise a leading role as Latin America’s best public university business school.
 

This prestigious ranking measures four areas of activity: academic quality; networking; internationalization and diversity, and knowledge production
 

In the 2017 iteration the Universidad de Chile continued to outperform other Latin American institutions, obtaining its highest score in Knowledge Production - which focuses on ISI publications– and moving it’s placing up from 153rd to 136^th compared to 2016.    The University also scored highly in average impact factor, a testament to the quality and relevance of the scholarship produced by members of the faculty.
 

In regard to academic quality, the School’s MBA maintained the second place that it obtained in 2016 but obtained four more ranking points than previously, reducing the margin between its score and that of its leading rival.  In this dimension particularly strong features included both the high level of academic qualifications of the full time professorship, and the prestige and quality of the awarding institutions.  Another significant component of this dimension captures the real-world professional experience of part-time faculty members.

While our score in Internationalization and Diversity also improved, we continue to work hard to increase the number of student-faculty exchange and/ or double degree agreements that we hold with other prestigious universities around the world.
 

The Networking indicator, another important component of the index, considers the destinations and current job titles of distinguished alumni and alumnae, over time and in the most recent three year period.  In this dimension we are focusing our efforts on attracting the highest possible number of students who hold high-level executive posts in large companies and multinationals.
 

Specialisms Sub Ranking

In the same publication, our MBA program was placed first for the specialisms of Finance, and Marketing & Operations. In Economics, we moved to first place.  We were placed fourth for Human Resources and Organizational Development, and seventh for Strategy and Ethics.

Our overall performance in intellectual contribution across these areas was robust: however, we continue to work to increase our level of publications and the proportion of faculty members who hold high-level academic qualifications from prestigious institutions.  

To be recognized as one of the region’s five best business schools, and its best public university in the field, is a tribute to the relevance of our programs at national and Latin American level.
