Dilmah CEO Shares Success Story with FEN: A Lesson in Global Impact
On Tuesday, August 6, shortly after 12:30 p.m., a packed auditorium at FEN welcomed Dilmah's CEO, Dilhan Fernando, as he delivered an exclusive lecture titled "Dilmah's Case and Its Global Impact." The audience of 250 students and academics listened intently as Fernando shared his journey leading the family-owned business, which his father, Merrill J. Fernando, founded in 1985. Under Fernando's leadership, Dilmah has grown into one of the world's top 10 tea companies.
Earlier in the day, Fernando toured FEN's facilities and engaged with local entrepreneurs at "El Mercadito," an event held concurrently in the Tecnoaulas Hall. Among the participants was Amaira Nail, a second-year Commercial Engineering student, who described her interaction with the CEO as "amazing".
"I am proud to have had a conversation with him, even though my English isn't perfect," Amaira said. "I love that FEN invites influential figures from the world of economics and business to share their experiences".
Fernando also met with Dean José De Gregorio, Vice Dean Enrique Manzur, and other key faculty members, including the directors of the Undergraduate Schools, Jaime Miranda and Javier Núñez.
"Without a doubt, Dilhan Fernando's story is inspiring for our students and shows us that dreams can become reality," said Jaime Miranda, Director of the School of Information Systems and Auditing.
Javier Núñez, Director of the School of Economics and Administration, added, "As a school, we will continue to bring these enriching experiences to the university community, offering new perspectives that will leave a lasting impact on their academic and professional journeys".
